This is the view today (possibly taken from the bridge in the picture above).
Dunnottar Castle from the west,, September 1990.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/swalker5872/3039540962/] Pano shot from 2008, some things never change much.
Edited 20/4/09. Put on link to show that things have not changed much in the last hundred odd years. I would really recommend anyone who gets the change to visit, as no picture I have seen does the setting credit not even our 100 year old picture above. Sorry if there was any confusion.
i still prefer the old one to all of the new digitial versions, looks so much better
I am always interested in history. This is very interesting stuff. I have a series on my Flickr site in my sets where I have done a similar thing to places here in Australia. Most of the pics have been taken about 20 years apart.
Not surprising, Simon. I prefer the old one, too. We are comparing a professionally created photolithograph, made for sale, with various people’s amateur photos, mainly made for their own travel souvenirs.
The bridge doesn’t exist any longer, hasn’t done for a long long time.
Hi, I’m an admin for a group called ANYTHING GOES SCOTLAND,VINTAGE PHOTOS,POSTCARDS,EPHEMERAetc…, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
These old pictures are so epic.
wow …really…great
researching scottish family history from across the sea – I include historical data and to be able to see old images of where ancestors had been makes the research a little more meaningful and magical.
